NEW YORK — The best part of this Carlton Bragg interview from the Big Strick is when I asked him if there were any offers he didn’t have that he wishes he did.
“Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Rutgers,” he said.
Say what?
“Yeah, Rutgers,” Bragg said. “They’re very good, I heard.”
Yes, the 6-foot-8 2015 power forward from Cleveland Villa Angela St. Joseph lumped Rutgers in with perennial powers Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina and said he’s still awaiting an offer.
According to Bragg’s mentor, Michael Graves, Bragg holds offers from UCLA, Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois, Georgetown, Cincinnati, Dayton, Texas, West Virginia, Indiana, Cleveland State and DePaul.
“He’s got a list of 20 other schools that want him to come visit,” Graves told SNY.tv.
“Duke and Kansas and Kentucky have really been pressing the last couple of weeks to come down and check the school out,” Graves added. “Texas has been right there, they offered. West Virginia offered him.”
Graves added that UConn and Louisville had recently called to say they would be tracking Bragg.
“We’re just going through the process because he’s a 2015, working on some things in the classroom and on the court as far as driving to the basket,” Graves said.
Bragg said he models his game after Kevin Durant and Graves threw in another NBA star, too.
“Right now to be 6-9 he got a nice stroke but a Kevin Durant-type with a little Kevin Garnett in there,” he said.
