Phil Booth to Villanova

Team Takeover shooting guard Phil Booth is off the board.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Baltimore Mount St. Joseph guard picked Villanova over Georgetown, Indiana, Virginia and Temple, although he told SNY.tv Georgetown was second on his list.

“I really like the coaching staff they have. Villanova has a great history of producing and developing guards,” Booth told SNY.tv Tuesday. “I thought it was the best chance for me to succeed over the first year as a player.”

Booth said he called Villanova coach Jay Wright to inform him on Monday.

“[He will use me] as a point and off the ball, mostly both,” Booth said.

Booth is the No. 78 prospect in the Class of 2014 according to Rivals. He joins 6-6 small forward Mikal Bridges in Villanova’s 2014 recruiting class.

“It looks like they’re all set from my class,” he said.
