  • No. 1 Auburn wins 13th straight to remain unbeaten in loaded SEC

    By ALEJANDRO LOPEZ

No. 1 Auburn has Johni Broome back and can’t be stopped.

Broom went for a double-double of 20 points and 12 boards with 4 assists and 2 blocks as the top-ranked Tigers went into No. 23 Ole Miss and came out with a 92-82 victory, their 13th straight.

Auburn improved to 20-1, 7-0 in the SEC.

Dylan Cardwell added 10 points and 13 boards and Chad Baker-Mazara scored a team-high 18 points.

The Dominican guard also led the team with four three-pointers on 67% shooting from three and 6-of-10 shooting from the floor. Auburn guards Denver Jones and Miles Kelly contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Auburn lit up the hostile arena from long distance shooting an impressive 51% from three. Four of Auburn’s five starters contributed at least two 3-pointers while shooting a combined 13-of-22 from that distance.

Despite the Tigers’ hot shooting Ole Miss kept it close courtesy of a big performance from Sean Pedulla, who scored a game-high 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor.

Bruce Pearl’s team continues its journey to perfection in the SEC next week as they host the No. 5 Florida Gators on Feb. 8 before heading on the road to face No. 24 Vanderbilt on Feb. 11.

Florida was routed, 64-44, by No. 8 Tennessee earlier Saturday.
