SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Five-star guard V.J. Edgecombe of Long Island Lutheran and Austin Rivers Elite is headed to Baylor.
The 6-foot-4 native of the Bahamas chose the Bears over Duke and Kentucky during his ESPN announcement at the Hoophall Classic.
“I will be taking my talents to Baylor University,” he said on ESPN. “Go Bears, man.”
“We have a great connection,” he added. “From day one he [Scott Drew] has been solid, been consistent. He’s been showing love. Happy to learn from him, can’t wait to get down there.”

Edgecombe, a native of the Bahamas, slots in to replace projected lottery pick Ja’Kobe Walter and is also a projected lottery pick himself in 2025. He joins point guard Robert Wright III and small forward Jason Asemota in coach Scott Drew’s recruiting class.

Duke still has the No. 1-ranked class, highlighted by Cooper Flagg, Wright’s teammate at Montverde (FL) Academy and the projected No. 1 pick in 2025.
Kentucky features the No. 2 class and is still in the mix for uncommitted wing Karter Knox.
