Several of the AP Top 25 teams struggled to close out their impressive regular seasons, but their NCAA Tournament seeding was not impacted.
Seven ranked teams lost during Saturday’s afternoon window of games, including a trio of Top-10 teams.
No. 2 Alabama lost to No. 24 Texas A&M, 67-61. No. 3 Kansas lost to No. 9 Texas, 75-59. No. 7 Baylor lost to Iowa State, 73-58.
Still, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Kansas remaining as the No. 1 overall seed with Alabama also a 1 seed. Baylor remains a 2 seed.
Teams outside the Top 10 didn’t fare well either. No 11 Kansas State lost 89-81 to West Virginia. No. 12 Tennessee was beat by Auburn, 79-70.
No. 20 Providence was blown out 82-58 by Seton Hall and No. 22 TCU lost to Oklahoma, 74-60.
A few other ranked teams besides Texas A&M and Texas did win on Saturday.
No. 6 Marquette survived against St. John’s, 96-94. No. 13 Virginia beat Louisville and No. 23 Kentucky beat Arkansas.
In a battle of ranked teams to decide the top seed in the ACC Tournament, No. 16 Miami beat No. 25 Pittsburgh, 78-76.
