Mac McClung rises to fame once again, runs away with Dunk Contest

By CHARLIE PARENT

Former high school basketball star Mac McClung rose to stardom once again on Saturday night after running away with the Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend.

McClung, who is currently on a Two-Way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, has seen minimal NBA time since coming out of Texas Tech in 2021 but built serious hype around his name Saturday night with NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal even saying “he saved the dunk contest.”

McClung’s performance generated more than half a billion video views in the first 12 hours. The 520 million views are the most-ever for an All-Star Saturday Night and continue to grow.

The 6-foot-2 guard will now presumably go back to the Delaware Blue Coats where he has averaged 19.1 points per game and 4.7 assists this season.

McClung also won G-League Rookie of the Year last season averaging just over 21 points and 7 assists per game.
