Naas Cunningham visits Memphis days after including Tigers in Top 5

By ADAM ZAGORIA & CHARLIE PARENT

Naas Cunningham, the No. 3 overall player in the Class of 2024, visited Memphis on Wednesday and Thursday just days after including the Tiger’s in his Top 5.

“Good visit, the message was they valued his game and they think he would do very well with Coach Hardaway,” Cunningham’s father Erik Cunningham said. “Penny [Hardaway] is a players’ coach. He teaches from his experiences. He wants to win and they believe Naas would be good for the program.”

Andy Borman, Cunningham’s former coach with the NY Rens on the Nike EYBL circuit, is now a Memphis assistant, and the Tigers also have a commitment from Cunningham’s former Rens teammate, point guard Ty-Laur Johnson of Our Saviour Lutheran, who is expected to sign in the spring.

The 6-foot-7 wing who currently plays for the Overtime Elite League on scholarschip is also considering Duke, UCLA, Rutgers, and Kansas.

He has already visited Rutgers, UCLA, and Duke and is working on other visits but none are currently scheduled.
