Former Auburn guard Sharife Cooper of the Cleveland Charge was named NBA G League Player of the Month for January.
In eight games played during the month of January, Cooper averaged 27.4 points on .500 shooting with 4.4 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.0 steal in 34.2 minutes per game. Cooper started off the month with a 34-point effort on 12-of-16 shooting in a January 2nd win in Westchester that began an eight-game winning streak for the Charge. In the January 8th win in Fort Wayne, Cooper scored a career-high 43 points with 10 assists, nine rebounds and four steals. In the January 18th victory in Greensboro, Cooper scored 15 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter to help propel the team to their seventh-straight win.

Cleveland was 7-1 in the eight games that Cooper played in January and 9-1 overall for the month, while Cooper is currently the leading scorer for the entire NBA G League by averaging 26.8 points per game. Cooper is the first player in Charge team history to receive Player of the Month honors.
