During an interview with The Athletic back in August, John Calipari proclaimed that Alabama was a football school — and Kentucky was a basketball school.
“This is a basketball school,” Calipari told The Athletic. “Alabama is a football school. So is Georgia. No disrespect to our football team. I hope they win 10 games and go to bowls. But this is a basketball school.”
Well, on Saturday the football school ranked No. 7 in basketball hammered the basketball school, 78-52, dropping the Wildcats to 10-5 on the season.
“That’s one that I don’t know if I wanna watch the tape,” Calipari told reporters.
Calipari, who was already taking heat for his “archaic” offense and pedestrian non-conference record, proceeded to get heavily trolled on Twitter as things look dark in Lexington.
As Gary Parrish points out, Kentucky still lacks a Q-1 win as we stand here in early January.

UK is in a really bad place in Year 14 under John Calipari. The Wildcats are now 0-4 in Q1 opportunities with those four losses coming by an average of 16.5 points.
Exactly 77 different schools already have at least one Q1 win. UK still has zero.
Alabama football coach Nick Saban was at the game and said hello to Calipari, prompting Twitter to joke that Calipari was the third-best coach at the game.

Social media has also linked Calipari to the now-open Texas job, although that seems like a stretch for the moment.
After firing Chris Beard, Texas will have plenty of options, and could also opt to make interim coach Rodney Terry the full-time coach.
As for Kentucky, the host South Carolina Tuesday before another tough road game at No. 8 Tennessee (No. 2 in the NET rankings) next Saturday.
