Class of 2024 five-star center Yves Missi has committed to Baylor, he announced Wednesday.
The 6-foot-11, 225-pound big from Prolific (CA) Prep, chose Baylor over Texas and Stanford.
“I chose Baylor because I think it’s the best place for me to develop my skills and be the best version of myself,” Missi told On3. “I have an amazing relationship with the coaching staff, the style of play is exactly what I’m looking for and most importantly it feels like home. It’s a place where I can reach my goal which is to get to the league.”
Ranked by On3Sports Composite as the No. 2 center and No. 13 overall prospect in the nation, Missi joins four-star forward Jason Asemota and four-star guard Robert Wright in Baylor’s 2024 recruiting class.
“Yves Missi has all the tools to be a special player,” Prolific Prep coach Ryan Bernardi said. “He is extremely long, an elite athlete, good ball skills and a great motor. He has tremendous character and emotional maturity. The combination of talent and character has Yves set up for a great career on and off the court.”
Born in Belgium and raised in Cameroon, Missi has been in the U.S. for three years. He runs with the PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit.
“He’s incredibly mature and intelligent,” Prolific Prep director Philippe Doherty said.
He’s averaging 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for unbeaten Prolific Prep, the No. 2 team in the nation per ESPN.com, and boasts a 3.9 GPA.
“From day one on campus, Yves will be elite finisher at the rim, excellent at shooting the top of the key 3 ball and showcase a motor that never stops,” PSA Cardinals coach Joe Brown said.
“He will clearly be a high level rebounder and regularly fill the stat sheet with double-doubles. He runs the floor like a deer and talks on defense like a quarterback on the defensive end of the court. Never forget that he handles the ball very well for a young man of his size.”
