St. John’s gets pledge from 2023 guard Harrison Reede

By ADAM ZAGORIA

St. John’s got an early New Year’s present Saturday when Harrison Reede, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard from Aberdeen (S.D.) PHHoenix Prep made a verbal commitment.

“I’m a sharpshooter that plays off of shooting,” he told Zach Smart. “My game is about looking to make plays for others and get to my spots on the floor to hit shots.”

Reede averaged 23 points on 44 percent shooting from deep and 56 percent shooting on The Grind Session.

Reede joins small forward Brandon Gardner of Christ the King in St. John’s 2023 class.

“Harrison is one of the best shooters in the country with NBA range and an unbelievably quick release,” coach John Ortega of AZ Select said. “He’s an extremely hard work on and off the court with a 3.6 GPA in the classroom.

“He’s a J.J, Reddick type player who with added strength and weight over the next 7 months should be able to help as a true freshman.”
