Bracketology: Alabama is now a projected 1 seed

By CHARLIE PARENT & ADAM ZAGORIA

Alabama is now projected to be a 1 seed in this season’s NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

The Tide (11-2), who started the season ranked 20th in the AP Poll, are on the 1 line alongside Purdue, UConn, and Kansas.

The top seeding comes after a road win against No. 21 ranked Mississippi State.

In total, Alabama has taken down four top-25 opponents in Houston, North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Michigan State. Their only losses come against No. 2 UConn and No. 11 Gonzaga. Roll Tide.

Fox’s Mike DeCourcy has Alabama as a 2 seed with Arizona, UConn, Purdue and Kansas as the 1s.

With only one ranked win, former No. 1 Houston (13-1) remains looking in as a 2-seed.

Another former No. 1 team in North Carolina (9-4), who had lost four games in a row in November, seems to be resurging as Lunardi considers them a four-seed, although they lost to Pitt on Friday.

Outside of Gonzaga, New Mexico (13-0) remains the highest seeded mid-major at 8 while St. Mary’s (11-4) and San Diego State (10-3) sit on the nine-line.
