Class of 2023 forward James Jewell commits to Manhattan

By JACOB POLACHECK

Class of 2023 forward James Jewell has committed to Manhattan, he announced Saturday via Twitter.

The 6-foot-5, 165-pound small forward from Southern California (CA) Academy, chose Manhattan over offers from Tennessee Tech, North Texas, Eastern Kentucky, McNeese State and St. Francis Brooklyn.

Jewell is the first player to commit to Manhattan since the program parted ways with head coach Steve Masiello on October 25.

“Jewell is a big-time athlete with a motor that is extremely productive,” said Southern California Academy coach Julius Von Hanzlik. “[He’s a] high-flyer that defends and has a nose for the ball. When he’s on the floor he gives a lot of productivity.”
