Brandon Gardner to sign with St. John’s this week: ‘The time is now’

By ADAM ZAGORIA & CHARLIE PARENT

Class of 2023 four-star Brandon Gardner is set to sign with St. John’s Wednesday at 2:30 P.M. after initially wanting to wait until Spring.

“The time is now,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “I was taught to listen to my gut and the time is now.”

The 6-foot-7 forward currently plays for Christ the King Regional (NY.).

Gardner initially committed to St. John’s in June over Maryland, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, and Clemson, among others.

“St. John’s, I love the coaching staff, the way they play,” he told ZAGSBLOG ahead of his commitment. “I love the fast pace. I just love New York. New York is a fast-paced place, and I’m a fast-paced player. I feel like they fit my game pretty good.”

Gardner is the lone commit in Mike Anderson’s class of 2023 thus far.
