Jahmere Tripp, an explosive finisher with guard skills and an ability to step out and knock down the 3-pointer, committed to Fordham on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-6 guard from Our Savior Lutheran and the NY Lightning Nike EYBL program also considered Hofstra, Rhode Island, Missouri State, Towson and others.
“The energy of the young coaches, staying home and just the trust coach [Keith] Urgo has in me will allow me to get where I want to be,” the Brooklyn native said of why he chose Fordham.
As for his skillset, he said,”Being a big point who can create mismatches and still get my teammates involved. I will be a player who plays hard and wants to get better and learn.”
He joins shooting guard Alex Bates in Fordham’s 2023 class.
“Jahmere possesses a blend of power and finesse,” said Lightning director Shandue McNeil. “He poses a match-up problem. His versatility allows him to play multiple positions on offense and guard multiple positions on defense.”
