Jayden Hastings, the 6-foot-10, 215-pound three-star center from IMG Academy (FL), has committed to Boston College.
Ranked the No. 14 center in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports.com, he also considered Iowa and UCF.
“I’m going to be taking my talents to Boston College,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “I chose them because I had a good line of communication with the coaching staff, talking with them was easy.
“And when I went on my visit, I could just see myself playing for them and it really clicked I knew I could trust coach Earl [Grant] and play for him going all the way out in Boston.
“And the players also. Those are the guys I’m going to be fighting with and grinding with and I feel like they are high-character guys that I can play with.”
As far as his skillset, he said, “I think I can just be a good player that comes and works hard and can affect both sides of the court. Play selflessly. I can come in my first year and play the five or the four and just help the team win.”
Hastings said being in the ACC playing against the Dukes and Carolinas will help him “move out to the four and expand my game to the next level for wherever I go.”
Hastings joins point guard Fred Payne in BC’s 2023 class. They also canceled a visit this week with another big man, Braden Pierce of IMG, after the Hastings commitment.
