COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Tahaad Pettiford, the 6-foot Class of 2024 point guard from Hudson (N.J.) Catholic, continues to speak highly of Auburn after his official visit there last month.
“I really liked Auburn in general, the coaching staff, the players, the people around them, the whole school,” he said at the USA Basketball Junior National Team minicamp. “But they pretty much told me, ‘You come here, they’re going to take care of me and my family, make sure I’m straight, and try to build my game to another level to help me get to where I want to be.'”
He added: “They’re up there, I really like Auburn a lot.”
Travis Pettiford, Tahaad’s father, previously told ZAGSBLOG of the visit:
“BP [Bruce Pearl] loves Tahaad and the way he plays and thinks he is a great fit.”
Pettiford visited Auburn along with five-star McEachern (Ga.) small forward Ace Bailey and four-star big man Peyton Marshall of Kell (Ga.)
Going forward, he would like to take some other visits, and mentioned his ongoing relationship with UCLA assistant Darren Savino, a fellow Jersey native.
“I love them a lot,” he said. “Really great group of staff and players. I spoke to coach Savino recently, he’s always checking up on me. Looking forward to getting out there soon, we don’t know yet.
Pettiford also mentioned potential visits to Kentucky, Kansas, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss and Maryland.
“I’m trying to figure out some more visits,” he said. “I have a few.”
