Class of 2023 St. Benedict’s Prep forward Ladji Dembele recaps DePaul visit

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Ladji Dembele, the 6-foot-9 forward from St. Benedict’s Prep and the NY Rens Nike EYBL program, took an official to DePaul this past weekend.

“It was good,” he said Monday. “I had chance to see the practice. I like the intensity, the effort, the vibes of the city, campus, etc.

Asked what coach the message was from coach Tony Stubblefield and his staff, Dembele said, “I’m not gonna be like a center there. I’m gonna play as a four because of my versatility and I can also guard multiple positions.”

Stubblefield had success recruiting in New Jersey earlier this year when he landed five-star guard Zion Cruz, currently a freshman with the Blue Demons.

Dembele previously visited Pittsburgh last month, and is also planning an unofficial to Seton Hall on Friday.

“Laj is a terrific player, strong, athletic and versatile,” St. Benedict’s coach Mark Taylor said.

“He’s 6-9 and can post up and finish strong and extend the defense with the 3 ball.”
