Class of 2024 forward Ebrahim Kaba picks up 2 new offers since transfer to Gill St. Bernard’s

By JACOB POLACHECK

Class of 2024 forward Ebrahim Kaba is starting to see his dreams of playing Division 1 basketball come true.

The 6-foot-7 small forward out of East Orange, New Jersey, recently announced his transfer to Gill (NJ) St. Bernard’s and has since picked up a couple of new offers.

“I was trying to get into a better environment academically,” Kaba said of his transfer. “Secondly, I wanted to go to a better basketball school, so I could have more eyes and be seen more by college coaches. On top of that, I had heard of Mergin Sina and I know he’s a great coach. He can really benefit my game and help me get to the next level.”

Since announcing his transfer on August 18, Kaba has received offers from Saint Louis and Florida Gulf Coast.

“It’s been really shocking because it came out of nowhere. I didn’t expect all of this to happen so fast,” Kaba said. “I just know that I’m going to keep working, keep getting better and better and get more offers.”

He broke down both offers:

Florida Gulf Coast: “First, I just love the state of Florida. It’s a really good state. I know they have some good trainers over there and they have a good coach also.”

Saint Louis: “I first got in contact with Phil Forte. He’s a really good guy. He showed me that at Saint Louis they’re all a family. That’s something that I’m looking for when it comes to making my college decision.”

Kaba also holds an offer from Lafayette and is receiving interest from the likes of Georgia Tech, Xavier, Harvard, Oregon State, Richmond, Princeton, Nebraska and Lehigh.

Kaba said he plans on taking visits “soon”, but is working on finding the best dates to take a trip. He named Xavier, Saint Louis, Lehigh and Florida Gulf Coast as schools he’s looking to visit.

“I’m just considering what will be the best place for me to expand my game and a place that’s going to take me to the next step,” Kaba said. “I want a place I’m going to feel welcome at.”

Playing on the wing, Kaba said he’s a threat on both ends of the floor, can create shots for his teammates and shoot at a high-level.

“I’m really just trying to get more athletic,” he said. “I’m working on my handle to get my handle tighter. I’m also focusing on expanding my basketball IQ because to play at the next level, you’re always going to have to be more logical.”
