DePaul lands three-star big man Babacar Mbengue

By ADAM ZAGORIA

DePaul on Thursday landed a pledge from three-star 7-footer Babacar Mbengue of Olympus Prep (N.J.).

“Coach (Tony) Stubblefied is good for me and I can show my talent and give them the best of my talent every game,” Mbengue told ZAGSBLOG.

Ranked the No. 19 center nationally by 247Sports.com, the 7-footer also held offers from USC, DePaul, Utah, Kansas State and Ole Miss, per 247Sports.com.

“DePaul is getting a legit 7’0 kid that can move, is good defensively and has improving offense,” said his AAU coach Taj Hawkins of New World.. “He has a great attitude, wants to learn and his potential is off the charts.”

He is DePaul’s first commit in 2023.

“I want to show them the 7-footer is in the building, doing what I have to do,” Mbengue said.
