Emmanuel Akot decommits from Memphis and enrolls at Western Kentucky

By CHARLIE PARENT

Former Arizona and Boise State big-man Emmanuel Akot has decommitted from Memphis and will enroll at Western Kentucky for the 2022-2023 season.

Akot previously committed to Memphis in June, but changes course just three months before the season begins.

The 6-foot-7 wing has since played at Boise State for the last two years, taking a big step during the 2021-2022 season, averaging 10.6 points on 40% shooting and adding in tremendous defensive versatility.

The addition of Bakot makes Western Kentucky one of the most dangerous schools in the country with other additions such as former five-star Khristian Lander and former four-star Dontaie Allen.

The Hilltoppers also return junior point guard Dayvion McKnight, who averaged 16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists last season. Alongside McKnight is 7-foot-4 center Jamarion Sharp who averaged 4.6 blocks per game in last year’s campaign.
