NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Cooper Flagg, the No. 1-ranked prospect in the class of 2025, was excellent at Peach Jam on Thursday, scoring 22 points in front of a large list of college coaches.
Flagg, the 6-foot-8, 195-pound power forward from Montverde (FL) Academy and the Team Maine AAU Program, told ZAGSBLOG that he currently holds offers from Duke, UCLA, Michigan, West Virginia and Iowa.
In attendance to see Flagg on Thursday included Duke’s Jon Scheyer, West Virginia’s Bob Huggins, Memphis’ Penny Hardaway, Villanova’s Kyle Neptune and Oregon’s Dana Altman, among others.
“It’s going by really quick,” Flagg said. “I’m just living in the moment and continuing to stay working in the gym.”
He broke down each of his offers:
Duke: “I have to see how Coach Scheyer handles stuff and how he coaches. I’ve watched them growing up.”
Michigan: “They’re hard coached and I’m looking forward to seeing how they play too. I’m going to keep watching them and see how it goes.”
UCLA: “They are a fast program that gets up and down in transition.”
West Virginia (which offered both Cooper and his brother Ace Flagg): “They have another hard coach that’s not going to let you take any plays off.”
Iowa: “Again, that’s a high-transition and good defensive team.”
Flagg does not have any upcoming visits planned, but said he’s “sure in the future we’ll get that figured out and go on some.”
“I’m looking at how they’re coached, what their offense is like, what the run for a defense and things like that,” he said.
After previously attending Nokomis Regional (ME), Flagg is set to attend the powerhouse Montverde Academy for his sophomore season.
“I just want to go to a school that’s going to push me to be better and better every day,” Flagg said.
Ranked by On3Sports as the No. 1 overall prospect in all of high school basketball, Flagg said he’s working on improving his ball handling and ability to handle physicality.
‘I’m just a versatile, three-level scorer and a rim protector,” Flagg said.
