New York stars Boogie Fland, Ian Jackson and New Jersey’s D.J. Wagner make final USA Basketball U17 roster

USA Basketball announced the final 12 players for the 2022 USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team.

The 12, selected from 34 athletes who were invited to camp, will compete in the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup in Malaga, Spain, July 2-10.

Finalists were selected by the USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team Committee and the roster represents the high school graduating classes of 2023, 2024 and 2025.  

Representing the class of 2023 are Dennis Evans III, Jeremy Fears Jr., Ron Holland, Sean Stewart and DaJuan Wagner Jr.

Representing the class of 2024 are David Castillo, Johnuel “Boogie” Fland, Ian Jackson, Karter Knox, and Asa Newell.

The class of 2025 features Cooper Flagg and Koa Peat.

Training camp is being led by U17 National Team head coach Sharman White (Pace Academy, Ga.), who is assisted by Eric Flannery (St. Edwards H.S., Ohio) and Steve Turner (Gonzaga College H.S., DC).  

In the U17 competition, the USA will vie for its sixth-straight gold medal dating back to the event’s inception in 2010 and boasts a 37-0 record.
