Houston’s Marcus Sasser to return for senior season

By CHARLIE PARENT

Potential pre-season All American Marcus Sasser has decided to pull his name from the NBA Draft and return to Houston for his senior season.

Sasser averaged 17.7 points per game through 12 games with the Cougars last season before being sidelined with a left foot injury for the rest of the year. Sasser was also instrumental in Houston’s Final Four run during the 2020-2021 season.

The 6-foot-2 guard instantly puts Houston in National Championship contention, as they were already considered a top 10 team in the country even if Sasser were to take the NBA route. Besides Sasser, the Cougars return double-digit scorers, Jamal Shead and Tramon Mark while bringing in five-star forward Jarace Walker.

They were also in the mix for Kenneth Lofton Jr. before he opted to remain in the NBA Draft.
