Georgetown added one player on Saturday but missed out on two others.
The Hoyas announced the addition of Arizona State transfer Jay Heath, who has landed at his third school in three years and will need an NCAA waiver to be eligible for the 2022-23 season.
But Patrick Ewing’s club then missed out on four-star forward Tyrell Ward when he announced for LSU, and Syracuse transfer Frank Anselem, who pledged to Georgia.
Georgetown has seen six players transfer out since the season ended while adding LSU transfer Brandon Murray, Duquesne transfer Primo Spears and now Heath.
Heath, a 6-foot-3 Washington, D.C. native, spent last season at Arizona State and the previous two at Boston College. He made 65 3-pointers at BC in the 2019-20 season and a a year later was Boston College’s leading scorer (14.5 ppg) while averaging 33.6 mpg. He averaged 10.6 ppg last season at Arizona State.
“Georgetown was the right fit for me,” he said in a statement. “More than anything, I wanted to get back home to DC and Georgetown and the coaching staff gave me the opportunity to do that. I’m part of a close family and it means a lot to me that I can see them more and be closer to my support system.”
Said Ewing: “We’re excited to bring in Jay Heath – he adds versatility and scoring. His experience and toughness will make him a key part of our team next season”
