Aftermath of Will Wade firing sees ‘mass exodus’ from LSU program

By CHARLIE PARENT

LSU’s firing of Will Wade due to FBI allegations has caused a mass exodus of players within the program.

Brandon Murray (G), Xavier Pinson (G), Shareef O’Neal (F), Jerrell Colbert (C), Adam Miller (G), Bradley Ezewiro (F), and Justice Williams (G) are the seven players to enter the Transfer Portal after the firing.

On the recruiting front, LSU has lost their entire 2022 class. This includes five-star forward Yohan Traore, five-star forward Julian Phillips, and four-star guard Devin Ree. Class of 2023 four-star guard Marvel Allen has also decommitted from the Tigers.

New head coach Matt McMahon, the former Murray State head man, only has six players on scholarship for the 2023 season. This number could get lower as well if former-five star center Efton Reid decides to head to the NBA Draft, or transfer, as has been rumored over the last few weeks.

There is speculation, though, that several of McMahon’s Murray State players could end up in Baton Rouge. Nine Racers have already entered the Transfer Portal, and McMahon was able to sway guard Justice Hill to LSU on Tuesday.
