It was a slow start for Purdue star Jaden Ivey, but he hit the key shots when it mattered. Ivey nailed a deep-three with just over a minute to play, thwarting Texas’ comeback attempt and securing an 81-71 victory for the Boilermakers.
The potential NBA Draft lottery pick, Ivey, finished the game with 18 points on 4-of-7 shooting. He went 2-of-4 from three and 8-of-9 from the line as well.
Purdue advances to play cinderella Saint Peter’s on Friday in the semi-final of an East region that has seen its top two seeds fall already.
