Former UConn star James Bouknight ejected from courtside at Xavier-UConn game, moves to student section

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Former UConn star James Bouknight was ejected from his courtside seat by referee Mike Roberts during the second half of No. 24 UConn’s 72-61 victory over Xavier on Saturday at Gampel Pavilion.

Bouknight, who spent two years at UConn, now plays for the Charlotte Hornets and was sitting courtside with former UConn player Christian Vital. Roberts warned Bouknight three times to get off his phone and off the court before finally ejecting him.

The crowd booed as the duo walked off the court. They ended up moving up to the student section.

“That was not an ideal scenario, because we were playing bad and kind of melting down a bit,” UConn coach Dan Hurley told reporters.

“He got tossed. I didn’t really see what happened. And then I saw him again somewhere near the student section.”

Prior to the game, Bouknight was shooting baskets with his former teammates.
