Three of the 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Boys Player of the Year are headed to Duke

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Ten semifinalists were named for the Naismith High School Trophy for Boys Player of the Year, and three of them are headed to Duke as part of coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class.

Kyle Filipowski of Wilbraham & Monson (MA), Dereck Lively II of Westtown (PA) and Dariq Whitehead of Montverde (FL) are all semifinalists for the award.

For more on Scheyer’s recruitment efforts, read my feature in New York Times Sports.

Of the seven other finalists, six are committed to colleges and one is uncommitted:

Amari Bailey – UCLA

Gradey Dick – Kansas

Keyonte George – Baylor

Dillon Mitchell – Texas

Nick Smith Jr. – Arkansas

D.J. Wagner – Uncommitted (2023)

Cason Wallace – Kentucky
