Class of 2023 point guard Jeremy Fears commits to Michigan State

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Jeremy Fears, the 6-foot-1 point guard from La Lumiere (IN) and Brad Beal Elite, is headed to Michigan State.

Ranked the No. 5 point guard in 2023 by 247Sports.com, Fears pledged to the Spartans over Illinois and Michigan on Thursday at his high school on ESPNU.

“I’ll commit to Michigan State, Go Spartans,” he said on ESPNU.

“Michigan State has always been a dream school, Coach [Tom] Izzo has always been one of my favorite coaches and he just said that I’ll be able to come in, play and he just likes my type of game. It fits Michigan State. I’m a competitor, defender, I just fit the style of play.”

Fears is the first 2023 commit for Michigan State.

“I’ll bring defense, competitiveness, just always going hard every day, leadership and just my winning mentality,” he said on ESPNU.

“Jeremy is one of the best floor generals that I’ve ever been around,” Brad Beal Elite coach Tim Holloway said. “His ability to see the game and be a coach in the floor is uncanny and really special to see.”
