ATLANTA — Top-25 guard Zion Cruz is focusing on two schools as he nears a commitment, he tells ZAGSBLOG.
“I’m looking at Memphis and Georgia right now,” Cruz said. “I’m supposed to visit Georgia in a couple weeks so I’m looking forward to that.”
The 6-foot-5, 175-pound shooting guard from Donda (CA) Academy, says his commitment is ‘coming soon’.
“Around December,” he said. “(I’m looking for) a family, someone that’s for me.”
Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 2 shooting guard and No. 25 overall prospect in the class of 2022, Cruz describes himself as a leader.
“I’m crafty, I get my teammates involved and I can get downhill,” he said. “I’m looking to improve my jump shot, making different type of reads and just getting started early.”
Cruz made the decision to join Donda Academy, Kanye West’s new Adidas-backed prep school in Simi Valley, Calif., in October and is playing alongside top recruits Robert Dillingham, JJ Taylor, Jahki Howard and Brandon White, among others.
“It’s just a better situation. I get to workout more. I just felt like it was a better situation for me,” Cruz said. “We’re in the gym every day. We go to school and then we’re in the gym.”
