Class of 2023 four-star guard George Washington III has committed to Ohio State, per Jonathan Givony of ESPN.
“Honestly, I’ve fallen in love with the campus, coaches and players from day one,” Washington told ZAGSBLOG Wednesday. “It really only grew from there.”
The 6-foot-2, 165-pound combo guard from Christian Academy (KY) of Louisville, chose Ohio State over Louisville, Auburn, Cincinnati and Xavier, among others. He took his official visit to Ohio State from Oct. 29-31.
“The fans and the excitement that they bring everyday on campus (stood out on my official visit),” Washington said.
Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 12 combo guard and No. 77 overall prospect in the nation, Washington is the first commit in Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class.
“I play a pretty exciting style of play. I love to shoot from deep and play out of a handle. I’m a guard that can score on and off the ball,” Washington said. “I can also drive and attack and play above the rim as well.”
Washington becomes the highest-rated prospect to commit to Ohio State since D’Angelo Russell in 2014.
