After taking his third official visit to Texas over the weekend (Oct. 15-18), four-star forward Dillon Mitchell says he’s looking to sign by the start of the early signing period.
“My goal is to sign by early signing period come November 10th,” Mitchell said. “No exact date, but it should be soon once I sit down with my family and figure out what’s the best fit for me.”
Mitchell, the nation’s No. 34-ranked prospect in the class of 2022, tripped to Texas over the weekend (Oct. 15-18) for his third official visit.
“It went really well,” Mitchell said. “I learned a lot about the program and what they have to offer. I had a good time.”
The 6-foot-7, 180-pound small forward from Montverde (FL) Academy, said the coaching staff pitched its ability to help him develop into a pro.
“If I come to Texas, they will put in nonstop work with me to help me be an all-around player, help me be the best I can be, while also having a lot of fun,” he said. “They told me it’s not gonna be easy, but if I want to go somewhere where I’m gonna be pushed to be the best I can be, then Texas is where I need to be.”
Mitchell, who is down to three schools, has also taken official visits to Tennessee (June 27) and Florida State (June 30-July 1).
He says he’s looking to take one more official visit to Tennessee before his announcement.
“My family and I are working on it,” he said. “My schedule is so busy at Montverde. With the signing period coming right around the corner, it’s been a little tough to find free time, but it’s something we are trying to figure out.”
Helping him through this decision has been Mitchell’s mother, Jennifer, who has given him constant advice throughout the process.
“She’s my ride or die and my right hand,” he said. “She’s had my back my whole life and in this recruiting process. “It can get stressful, but she’s always helped me keep my head up and is constantly reminding me that this process is a blessing. She has given me so much advice to help me during this process. I really don’t know what I would do without her and I just wanna thank her for always being there for me, no matter what.”
