Denzel Aberdeen, the 6-foot-5 combo guard from Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips and the Southeast Elite AAU program, committed to Florida on Sunday.
Aberdeen chose the Gators over Georgia Tech, Oklahoma and Texas Tech following a visit this weekend.
“I chose Florida because I love what Coach [Mike] White brings to the game,” he said. “His reputation speaks for itself! Also, it’s very convenient and close to home for my family to come see and support me.
“One more thing is that it is in one of the best conferences in college basketball (SEC). As for as my skillset is concerned, I would bring my leadership, toughness, high energy, shooting at a high clip, getting my teammates involved, and defensive capabilities.”
He is Florida’s second commit in 2022 following Montverde (FL) Academy forward Malik Reneau.
“Denzel is a high IQ-point guard with the ability to carry a team with ability to score, make others better and bring leadership,” coach Anthony Ricks of Southeast Elite said. “He plays his best basketball when the pressure is the highest. He will be good in Florida’s high tempo system.”
