A.J. Storr, the 6-foot-6, 200-pound shooting guard from IMG Academy (FL) and Vegas Elite, committed to St. John’s Wednesday night after taking an official visit this week.
Storr is ranked the No. 16 shooting guard in 2022 per the 247Sports.com Composite. St. John’s offered him July 17.
“[I liked] everything about New York — the fans, the Garden and definitely the coaching staff and the opportunity I will have playing there, ” he said.
“Their message was I can come in and be an impact player, and I would fit in perfect with my size and scoring ability,” he added.
This is the second commit in three days for Mike Anderson and his staff. St. John’s on Monday added a pledge from 2022 point guard Kolby King of Pembroke Pines Charter (FL).
Storr has also visited Oklahoma, Kansas and LSU officially and Illinois unofficially.
“Their message is pretty much the same [as St. John’s],” he said. “I could come in and be an impact player.”
After talking it over with his family, Storr made the call for the Johnnies.
“AJ Storr is a strong, athletic guard with great size,” IMG Academy post-grad coach Chad Myers said. “He is an elite shooter and also great at finishing in transition. He is capable of scoring in bunches and being young he is just touching the surface of how good he can be. He has the ability to guard multiple positions and also really be able to rebound his position.”
Added Storr: “I bring a great scoring ability and also a great winning mentality.”
