Duke offers Class of ’23 point guard Caleb Foster

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Duke coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer continues to target top recruits in an effort to build his team going forward.

Duke on Saturday offered Caleb Foster, the 6-foot-5 Class of 2023 point guard from Oak Hill Academy (VA). Foster is a North Carolina native who excelled at this week’s NBA Top 100 Camp in Orlando.

“I love what Caleb brings to our team as a point guard,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said. “He has great size at 6-5. He always plays with great pace and feel. He rarely turns the ball over, averaging one turnover a game as a sophomore. He shot 49.2% from three. With Caleb’s work ethic he will only get better. I believe he’s the best point guard nationally in the 2023 class.”

Ranked the No. 3 point guard in 2023 per 247Sports.com, Foster has also recently added offers from Virginia and South Carolina.

Duke this week secured a pledge from Kyle Filipowski, the 6-10 Class of 2022 center who became Scheyer’s first pledge. The Blue Devils are the favorites for Montverde (FL) Academy wing Dariq Whitehead, who will announce Sunday. And they remain in contention for Class of 2022 shooting guard Jaden Schutt of Yorkville (IL) Christian.
