Illinois big man Kofi Cockburn to transfer, remain in NBA Draft

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Illinois big man Kofi Cockburn will enter the Transfer Portal while remaining in the NBA Draft for now, according to Andrew Slater.

The 6-foot-11 Cockburn also considered UConn, St. John’s, PIttsburgh and Kansas before pledging to Illinois in January 2019.

Cockburn, who is not projected to be drafted in the July 29 NBA Draft per ESPN.com, was named a consensus Second Team All-American during the 2020-21 season after averaging 17.7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

He joined Ayo Dosunmu as the second Illinois player to declare for the NBA Draft this offseason.

The Draft withdrawal deadline is July 7.
