Class of ’22 wing Justin Taylor takes official to Indiana

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Justin Taylor, the 6-foot-6 small forward from St. Anne’s-Belfield School (VA) and Team Takeover, took his latest official visit to Indiana this week after previously visiting Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Syracuse.

“It was really good,” his mother Kerri said. “It’s a gorgeous campus and their facilities are very impressive. Bloomington is similar to Charlottesville in size and the college town feel. Like all the visits, it was nice to actually meet in person the coaches we had been talking to via phone and text and zoom.

“Coach [Mike] Woodson played at IU and went on to have a long and very successful career both playing and coaching in the NBA so that is unique. He has surrounded himself with an exceptional staff from top to bottom. He wants to run an NBA style offense and needs shooters. He’s very focused on having a family atmosphere and ensuring that his players succeed on and off the court.”

Taylor is ranked the No. 21 small forward in 2022 per 247Sports.com.

“[Coach Woodson’s] message to Justin was essentially that if he comes to Indiana he would step on campus and immediately play significant minutes and have a major role in turning around Indiana basketball,” Kerri said.

Taylor has two official visits remaining and has talked with Virginia coach Tony Bennett about an unofficial.

“Tony Bennett spoke to Justin about doing an unofficial since it’s right here,” Kerri said. “They just need to schedule it.”
