For the third time this offseason, Georgia has lost a transfer to another SEC school.
After point guard Sahvir Wheeler signed with Kentucky and guard Tye Fagan chose Ole Miss, KD Johnson committed Wednesday to Auburn.
He also considered Wake Forest , Marquette, Utah, Creighton, Seton Hall, Western Kentucky and UAB.
“I will be a combo guard and a play-maker who knows how to get my teammates involved,” he said.
The 6-foot-1 freshman guard from Atlanta averaged 13.5 points in 22 minutes per game while shooting 38 percent from deep.
Auburn also adds Class of 2021 power forward Jabari Smith and transfers Desi Sills (Arkansas), Walker Kessler (UNC), Wendell Green Jr. (Eastern Kentucky and Zep Jasper (College of Charleston).
Bruce Pearl’s club lost freshman point guard Sharife Cooper to the NBA Draft but returns sophomore guard Allen Flanigan. Freshman forward JT Thor is testing the NBA Draft waters.
“I think Auburn has the potential to win it all with the depth and talent they have,” Johnson said.
