Gonzaga lands Iowa State transfer guard Rasir Bolton

By JACOB POLACHECK

Iowa State transfer guard Rasir Bolton has committed to Gonzaga, he announced Friday via Twitter.

Bolton, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound point guard out of Petersburg, V.A., averaged 15.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game as a junior during the 2020-21 season.

He averaged 33.0 minutes per game, appearing in 21 games and making 20 starts.

Bolton chose Gonzaga over Arkansas, Wake Forest and Missouri State.

He expects to get a waiver to play immediately, per ESPN’s Myron Medcalf.

Bolton started his college career at Penn State, averaging 11.6 points on 38.3 percent from the field in 32 games during the 2018-19 season.

He transferred from Penn State to Iowa State in January 2019 after head coach Pat Chambers allegedly made a comment involving a “noose around [his] neck”.

He joins a Gonzaga newcomer group that features five-star center Chet Holmgren, five-star guard Hunter Sallis and four-star center Kaden Perry.
