Class of 2021 guard Tamar Bates has committed to Indiana, he announced Monday via Twitter.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard out of IMG (FL) Academy, reopened his recruitment on March 29.
Bates’ decision to de-commit from Texas came just three days after Longhorns head coach Shaka Smart left the program to take the same position at Marquette.
Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 12 shooting guard and No. 60 overall prospect in the class of 2021, Bates chose Indiana over Oklahoma State, Marquette, Missouri, Pitt and UNC.
He joins an incoming Indiana recruiting class that features Pitt transfer guard Xavier Johnson, UT-Martin wing transfer Parker Stewart and four-star big Logan Duncomb.
Indiana is also set to bring back forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, who announced his intentions to return to the program for his junior season after the hiring of head coach Mike Woodson.
