Joey Brunk reunites with Chris Holtmann at Ohio State

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Joey Brunk is reuniting with his former coach.

The 6-foot-11 senior center from Indianapolis is transferring to Ohio State from Indiana to play for Chris Holtmann for whom he played one season at Butler.

Brunk played his first three seasons at Butler — including his redshirt season for Holtmann in 2016-17 — before transferring to Indiana where he averaged 6.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in the 2019-20 season. He did not play last season due to a back injury but should will provide a valuable inside presence for the Buckeyes.

Brunk joins a frontcourt that will include senior Kyle Young, juniors E.J. Liddell and Ibrahima Diallo and sophomore Zed Key. Liddell is testing the NBA Draft waters.
