Charles Barkley invites any transfers who can ‘play’ to come to Auburn

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Charles Barkley was somewhat shocked to learn from Andy Katz on the Turner set for the NCAA Tournament that players in the NCAA Transfer Portal can go to any school that will have them.

And seniors who get an extra year from the NCAA due to the pandemic can come back and play another year right away — potentially at any school depending on whether the NCAA allows it.

So, of course, Barkley wants the best transfers to go play for coach Bruce Pearl at Auburn, his alma mater.

“If you want to get a quality education and be coached by a great coach, come on down to Auburn,” Barkley said on air, adding, “Only if they can play, though.”

Pearl retweeted the idea, so Auburn appears open to bringing in some top transfers to bolster the roster.

Only if you can play, though.
