Pittsburgh sophomore guard Gerald Drumgoole to transfer

By JACOB POLACHECK

University of Pittsburgh sophomore guard Gerald Drumgoole Jr. has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, head coach Jeff Capel announced Thursday afternoon.

“Gerald has been an outstanding teammate and an important member of our program over the past two seasons,” Capel said in a press release. “We are grateful for his commitment to the Pitt Basketball program and supportive of his desire to seek other opportunities to continue to grow as a player. Gerald has a bright future and we wish him nothing but the best on and off the court.”

This season, Drumgoole averaged 1.9 points, 0.8 rebounds, 0.1 assists, 0.1 blocks and 0.1 steals per game in nine games played.

Drumgoole is the third Pitt guard to elect to transfer this season after Xavier Johnson and Au’Diese Toney entered the transfer portal in February.

Pitt finished the 2020-21 season with a 10-12 record after losing to Miami 79-73 in the first round of the ACC Tournament Thursday.
