The University of Memphis has paused men’s basketball activities due to positive COVID-19 cases and the ensuing contact tracing among Tier 1 individuals within the program, the school announced Wednesday.
“While we’re disappointed to not be playing, we are absolutely committed to ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved,” Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway said in a press release. “We look forward to getting back into action when it is determined to be safe.”
Memphis has started the season with a 12-6 record (8-3 AAC). The Tigers’ Thursday game against Cincinnati has been postponed.
