Class of 2022 guard Corey Floyd Jr. expands list to 8 after Villanova offer

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Corey Floyd Jr. the 6-foot-5 guard from Roselle (N.J.) Catholic and Team Final, has expanded his list to eight schools after picking up an offer from Villanova, he told ZAGSBLOG.

Villanova has a long tradition of pulling New Jersey’s top guards and wings, from Mike Nardi to Corey Fisher and Corey Stokes to Jahvon Quinerly to Bryan Antoine to Trey Patterson.

Floyd is ranked the No. 20 combo guard in 2022 per 247Sports.com.

“C.J. is a tremendous talent whose best basketball is still ahead of him,” RC coach Dave Boff said. “Over the past few months he has really elevated his game and with how hard he works, he’s going to continue to get better.”

Floyd broke down his new options for ZAGSBLOG;

Villanova: “Villanova is a place where I can develop into the best version of myself on and off the floor.”

UCONN: “They’re recruiting me the hardest right now. They want me to come in and be an instant impact on both the offensive end and defensive end. Coaching staff is great.”

Providence: “Coach [Ed] Cooley checks in with me and my family almost everyday and let’s me know that I am a priority for them. Also recruiting me to be a scorer. “

Rutgers: “Hometown school that has shown love since day one. Recruiting me as a wing and point and to score.”

Florida: “Telling me that I can work my way into the starting lineup coming in as a freshman and be an impact right away. Filling in some of the spots for players that will be gone by then. “

Miami: “Coach L [Jim Larranaga] reaches out to me and my father almost every day. Have been in contact with my aau coaches a lot and have shown love throughout this whole process. “

Auburn: “Auburn has been another school that has shown nothing but love. Coach [Ira] Bowman has been a huge support in this process. We have a great connection.

Wake Forest: “Coach [Steve] Forbes and Coach [Brooks] Savage have been in contact a lot with me. They tell me they get after it in practice which is what I’m looking for. Coach Forbes keeps it 100% at all times.”
