Roddy Gayle Jr., the 6-foot-5 guard from Lewiston Porter Senior High School (N.Y.) and the New York Rens AAU, committed to Ohio State on Friday.
Gayle chose Ohio State over Georgetown, Marquette, Pitt, Syracuse, and UConn. According to 247Sports.com, he is ranked as the No. 7 shooting guard and No. 54 overall prospect in the Class of 2022.
“I will be taking my talents to Ohio State University,” he said. “What led me to make this decision is the relationship I have with the staff members. My versatility will be my greatest skillset and one coach plans on taking advantage of.”
His decision comes days after Ohio State commit Meechie Johnson announced he will reclassify and enroll mid-year.
Gayle joins three-star Bowen Hardman for the Buckeyes’ 2022 class. They are still pursuing four-stars Joe Hurlbart, Shawn Phillips, Jaden Schutt, and Tae Davis.
“Roddy Gayle is a 6-5 versatile guard that can play multiple positions offensively and guard multiple positions defensively,” NY Rens coach Andy Borman said. “He is a hard-working, hyper-athletic player that excels in a fast tempo game.
“He is a very unselfish, team-friendly player that will fit in perfectly with what Ohio State is building in their 2022 class.”
