DaRon Holmes commits to Dayton

By JACOB POLACHECK

Class of 2021 four-star forward DaRon Holmes has committed to Dayton, per Tipton Edits.

The 6-foot-8, 215-pound power forward from Montverde (FL) Academy, chose to commit to the Flyers over Marquette, Arizona and Cal.

Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 13 power forward and No. 49 overall prospect in the Class of 2021, Holmes joins Malachi Smith in Dayton’s 2021 class.

Holmes recently transferred from Millenium (AZ) High School to Montverde for his senior year.

“Daron has already improved dramatically since August,” said Montverde head coach Kevin Boyle. “He is an outstanding defender at multiple positions. He also is a very good shot blocker and rebounder.

“I feel he will be an outstanding college player and is really getting better at the offensive end of the floor: cutting, offensive rebounds and knocking in open shots.”

Holmes averaged 23.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game for Millennium (AZ) last season.
