Auburn lands 2022 big Sage Tolentino

By JACOB POLACHECK

Class of 2022 big Sage Tolentino has committed to Auburn, he announced via Instagram Thursday.

The 7-foot, 210-pound center from Maryknoll School (HI), chose the Tigers over offers from Kansas and Cincinnati with interest from Kentucky.

Last season, Tolentino was an All-State selection, being named Defensive Player of the Year in Hawaii as a sophomore after averaging 13.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.

Last season he averaged 13.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocked shots per game for Maryknoll High. An All-State selection, he was named the defensive player of the year in his state as a sophomore after helping his team to the Division 1 state title for a second consecutive year.

He is expected to play for Hamilton (OH) High School for the 2020-21 season.

Tolentino becomes the first commitment in Auburn’s 2021 class and the Tigers’ second commitment in the past week.

Auburn landed a commitment from five-star forward Jabari Smith last Friday, giving the Tigers their highest-ranked recruit in program history.
