Duke: ‘Nothing is official with our schedule’

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Duke was initially slated to play in the Battle 4 Atlantis but with many of those teams moving to play a similar event in South Dakota, it remains unclear if Duke will play in the new event.

“Nothing is official yet as it pertains to our schedule,” a Duke spokesman said Friday.

There has been lots of speculation that Duke will opt out of the event featuring Ohio State, Memphis, West Virginia, Wichita State, Utah, Texas A&M and Creighton.

One source said Duke is “doing their own event” and a second source close to Duke said, “Who wants to go to South Dakota?”

The Battle 4 Atlantis is officially on hiatus, but the new event is expected to take place at the Sanford Pentagon in South Dakota.

Meantime, Duke is also expected to play in the Champions Classic with Kentucky, Kansas and Michigan State. That is expected to take place in Orlando between Dec. 1-5, possibly Dec. 2.
